Watermelon
A large summer melon with crisp, sweet red flesh and very high water content. Seedless varieties are now most common. Best eaten cold.

Picking it at the store
- Knock on the outside — a ripe watermelon sounds hollow
- Look for a creamy yellow field spot on the bottom where it rested on the ground; pale or white means it was picked too early
