Halve and pit

Cutting around the seed of a stone fruit or avocado, twisting the halves apart, and removing the pit. The most efficient way to break into one for slicing or scooping.

In the kitchen

  • run knife around the seed lengthwise
  • twist halves in opposite directions
  • tap the knife heel into the pit and twist out
